I need an easy read, a book that can help me expand my vocabulary and understanding on the world & human mind

I love psychology , horror, science , and those weird books that explain “how the world works”

I’m new to this , I’ve never read a book in my life, I know how to read and find it pretty easy but the idea of reading bores me .

I want to expand my knowledge on important topics , I want wisdom and a grasp on reality. Something enticing , realistic and scary

I’ve been suggested: crazy new world, 1984, Time Machine, and the trilogy of New York. Do u have any other suggestions ??
