I remember years ago when I read The outsider by Camus I really struggled to finish it even though it’s so short, I was thinking “ugh I’m giving it 2 stars” but then at the end it all came together and ended up giving it 4 or 5 stars in GR.
The other one is Almost transparent blue by Ryū Murakami. I think I’ve never read a book so bleak, and I was not enjoying myself at all, but I loved the last part of the story so much. The writing was spectacular (in my opinion), and I felt really touched by it.
I’ll use your answers as recommendations, hehe.
