So a year ago or so i figured out that all my favorite fiction is humanist. Some examples:
Terry Pratchett
Ursula k. Le Guin
Kurt Vonnegut
Marie Brennan
Naomi Novik
Isaac Asimov
Arthur C. Clarke
Phillip Pullman
The Expanse authors
George Orwell(somewhat)
The overarching theme is often inspiring Humanity to be its best self, and treating all humans with compassion despite their flaws, with an often optimistic message of what we can achieve when we strive to be our best. Without the need for ”chosen ones”, ”providence”, or ”righteous rulers” who are mostly righteous because we’re told they are.
Now since i have clearly found the type of story i enjoy, i’d love to read more. Please share with me your favorite books with a humanist outlook or written by humanists.
