Hey, all. I’ve searched through this subreddit looking for something that fits, but I just see a TON of recommendations for ACOTAR.
Unpopular opinion: I _hate_ those books. I found them super cliche and a bit trashy with garbage writing.
I’m looking for a strong plot with an element of romance and mature characters, but without the smut that makes me cringe or roll my eyes. I prefer m/f romance. “Fade to black” sex scenes are fine as well.
Stuff I liked:
**Deadly Education,**
Anything by **Naomi Novik,
An Ember in the Ashes,
Ninth House,
Hunger Games.**
I read them a long time ago, but I remember liking **Six of Crows** and **Red Rising.**
I am currently reading **Fourth Wing** and really like it, despite the sex scenes being pretty cringey. Up to that point I thought it was a good slow burn romance on a fast-paced plot, even if the world building isn’t perfect
Stuff I didn’t care for:
**ACOTAR,
From Blood and Ash**
