It seems like the most common cause of death in novels/thrillers is murder and 1 in every 20 people is a serial killer.
It’s a huge, and all too common, eyeroll whenever I’m reading the back of a book at reads something like “but there’s a twist! A killer is on the loose!”. At least in that case the author then had the courtesy to inform me I shouldn’t waste my time with another murder thriller.
But oh my lord why is it so COMMON. To me the murderer trope in itself is incredibly dull and overused. And I have to endure finding out that most books I pick up are containing those themes
