I just recently got into reading again, though I wasn’t much of a reader before. I got my first library card and have been reading more now than I ever have. But I just don’t know what to read.
I like a lot of styles but I would say my favorites are probably sci-fi. Though I like a lot of stuff outside outside that genre. I pretty much just like anything that just keeps me in suspense so that I just have to read the next part. I enjoy being stressed out, but don’t have to be stressed or in suspense to enjoy something as long as it’s beautiful. I like love stories too.
Some of my favorite books I’ve ever read:
(and please don’t judge I’m not a literature snob at all and I’m sure some of my favorites are probably trash to a lot of serious readers)
The Martian – Andy Weir
Project Hail Mary – Andy Weir
The Hunger Games Trilogy – Suzanne Collins
Perks of Being a Wallflower – Stephen Chbosky
Where the Crawdads Sing – Delia Owens
Jurassic Park – Michael Crichton
The Watchers – AM Shine
Just Mercy – Bryan Stevenson(Non-fiction)
Out of the Silent Planet – CS Lewis
The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe – CS Lewis
It’s honestly so embarrassing that almost every book I’ve ever loved is also a movie, but here we are. Maybe I just like books that read like a movie. Idk but Id like to expand my horizons.
I love scifi, fantasy, mild horror, and more. Just give me your best page turner!

Not sure if it’s your style but if you’re into [business reads](https://www.shortformbooks.com/books/shop/snapshots-of-success-the-50-greatest-business-success-stories)
The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet, Becky Chambers
All Systems Red (Murderbot Diaries), Martha Wells
Binti series, Nnedi Okorafor
Honor Harrington series, David Weber
Plague of Angels, Sheri Tepper
The Expanse series is both a book series and a TV series so you can enjoy it both ways. (scifi)
ETA: Maybe the books you love are also movies because they are good books and lots of other people loved them too.
Blake Crouch’s man-on-the-run thriller **Dark Matter** checks your boxes. It has a sci-fi basis.
I second the suggestion of Martha Wells’ *Murderbot Diaries* series of sci-fi novellas. They are quick-paced, action-packed with a deadpan sense of humor.
Arc of a Scythe series by Neal Shusterman
His Dark Materials series by Philip Pullman
