I am newly (semi?) disabled due to a traumatic injury where I lost function of one of my arms and have a deformed shoulder / upper back that will cause problems with the rest of my body as I get older. I know there are others who are worse off than I am, but this has been a horrific experience for my family dynamic, my job, my health and ability to exercise, and by far the worst impact has been on my relationship with my young children (7 and 9) who are used to being active with me, and now I’m fragile and unable to do the things we used to do together.
This is rather specific, but I’m looking for a book recommendation for people who have undergone an adult transformation to physical disability – it would be especially helpful if they were a parent. Thank you.

I’m not a parent, and only some of my disabilities started in adulthood, but I recommend *Care work* by Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha for a nice reorientation to thinking about self, family, community, and society in a disability-centric way. Helped me a lot anyway.
