Since January 2023 I’ve been on a real reading journey. I’ve read about 42 books of varying lengths and content and it’s been great fun.
However, I’ve recently been curious on books that people have read that have changed their lives. As an example, Novelist as a Vocation by Murakami has given me the idea to write a book. This is something I’ve always wanted to do but was afraid of. However, the book really helped me break down what I needed to do and I’m very intrigued to see what I turn out.
Is there a particular book that changed your life? Maybe it helped you out of a funk, or inspired you to travel the world or write a book.

*Man’s Search for Meaning* by Viktor Frankl
Down and Out in Paris and London by George Orwell taught me to embrace adventure and become less materialistic and to not fear poverty. It also motivated me to hitchhike and train hop.
Books that changed how I think about the world and made me a more empathetic person:
Non-Fiction: **How the Word is Passed** by Clint Smith
Fiction: **Discworld** by Sir Terry Pratchett
Blood Meridian.
The Magic Mountain by Thomas Mann
The Savage Detectives by Roberto Bolaño
The Tartar Steppe by Dino Buzzati
The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion
Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman.
It made me look at the LitRPG genre as something worth exploring, and that led to a lifetime of disappointment in only a few months.
I just finished The Midnight Library by Matt Haig. It’s your typical classic fiction novel, but it made me rethink what I’m doing with my life and what is really going to make me happy. I definitely feel different than I did before I read it
