My wife and I love reading aloud together as a way to spend quality time. But lately our books have been a bit on the dull side. Our most recent reads together have been ‘Lessons’ by Mcewan, ‘Around the World in 80 Days’, ‘Fourth Wing’, ‘Sea of Tranquility’, ‘The Catcher in the Rye’, and we’re currently on ‘The Sun also Rises’. Aside from the Fourth Wing which she loved and I hated, they’ve all been pretty bland for us.
Generally I’m big on sci-fi/fantasy and classic lit. She usually reads historical fiction and recently smut. That said I’m not looking for books exclusively in these genres. What I am looking for are page turners that we are excited to get back into every night before bed, or something beautifully written or thought provoking that we can have a good discussion about. Any suggestions?

I also love doing this with my wife.
Discworld is great for this. It’s funny, engaging, deep, and full of fun things to refer back to. Monstrous Regiment would be a fun place to start together. Nation is another book by Terry Pratchett that you guys might enjoy. It’s an alternate history with a bit of magical realism.

I would suggest *The Sunflower Protocol* by Andre Soares.
If you and your wife want to discuss love beyond labels and time travel, this is a great pick.
