Here’s my last 12 months to date. I’m reading the top 3 titles this month, everything else is completed. I love sci-fi, horror & dark fantasy. I appreciate select historical nonfiction. I tried Murakami and did not appreciate most of the taboo and greyed consent themes, and I’ll pass on the rest of court of thorns and roses.

For titles listed that are sequels, I’ve read the first installments already. I’m open to manga, just not quite in love with it. I’d appreciate suggestions based on anything below. Help me plan my next haul.

And feel free to ask about anything you see here that you might be considering for yourself!

Octavia Butler has lots of great books and short stories that you might enjoy.

I really liked Silence of the Lambs, but Red Dragon I thought was even better!

I Am Legend by Richard Matheson is a fun twist on a Dracula story.

    2. Anything by T Kingfisher for stuff that walks the line between fantasy & horror.

NK Jemisin’ Broken Earth trilogy is fantasy, definitely on the heavier side as moods go, won 3 Hugo’s on a row (deservedly!). Starts with The Fifth Season.

The Space Between Worlds by Micaiah Johnson

      Middlegame by Seanan McGuire

CL Polk’s Kingston Cycle, starts with Witchmark

      The Fifth Science by Exurbia

      Light by John Harrison

      Nod by Adrian Barnes

Mordew by Alex Pheby (sequal is Malarkoi)

Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse, Clean Room, Saga, Dark Ark, Harrow County, Fable – all graphic novels/ comics by different authors

    4. If you enjoy dark fantasy, horror, and/or historical settings, you might enjoy:
