I am seeking recommendations for a guy in his early twenties who is a fan of the Harry Potter movies, but does not read. I was thinking Fantasy/Sci-fi, but maybe a stand-alone to begin with? As of right now, I have Dark Matter as an option.

I think Tales of Earthsea by Ursula LeGuin is a great series for fantasy readers. The first book is under 300 pages. Magic, adventure, really well done story. She is a highly respected author. If you like the first book you’ll love the whole series
Red Rising by Pierce Brown
I think Andy Weir’s writing are a good place to start with accessible and easy to read sci-fi. I particularly enjoy *The Martian* and *Project Hail Mary.* You may also consider trying audiobooks. When I first got back into reading, I used audiobooks as a when to start back up the hobby.
