Hi all,
I’m looking for a somewhat specific book recommendation. For a uni submission I need to complete a sophisticated, high-end (as in something you might see published in a top UK newspaper) book review.
The book needs to have been released within the last 12 months so realistically I am looking for something from September 2022 onwards but absolutely no earlier.
Given that I have only got 1000 words, I’d prefer the book to be at most around the 300 pages mark. That’s not strict but I will probably want to read the book (or parts at least) multiple times and I don’t want to have to do this for an enormous novel.
There are no limits on genre really and I read a reasonable amount of contemporary fiction, lit fic, horrors and thrillers. So ideally it will be something I will enjoy as well.
I’ve got a couple ideas in mind (The Weight if Blood by Tiffany Jackson is one for example) but I really want to put this out there to see if anyone has any recommendations. Ideally something good to read but if you hated a book that came out in the last 12 months, the review I write doesn’t need to be good!
Thanks in advance for any help.

Can it be memoir? The Man with two faces by Viet Thanh Nguyen.
Here are three fiction options
River Sing Me Home by Eleanor Shearer,
I Keep My Exoskeletons to myself by Marisa Crane,
The Mountain in the Sea by Ray Naylor
