    Hi everyone,

I’m looking to get back into reading, as I used to love books when I was a kid but haven’t read a book in a while at this point. As a kid I loved series like Percy Jackson, the Hunger Games, and Harry Potter. I’ve been looking for an adventure series that is similar and more geared towards adults but most of those either take place in medieval times or otherwise just have fantasy elements that put me off – not sure how to describe it, but things like ASOIAF, wheel of time just don’t appeal to me. I would love some recommendations!

Chain Gang All Stars could maybe fit what you are looking for. It’s a sci-fi novel set in the near future where prisoners can fight for their freedom through a series of televised death matches. Its kind of a grown up version of the Hunger Games in some regards.

    2. Try Alastair MacLean’s thrillers- Where Eagles Dare, The Guns of Navarone, Ice Station Zebra, When Eight Bells Toll

The Slow Horses series by Mick Herron

The John Corey Books by Nelson DeMille

The Hunt for Red October by Tom Clancy and the rest of the Ryan books

      Maybe the Jack Reacher Series

Metro 2033 by Dmitry Glukhovsky is a pretty solid adventure novel about a young hero that goes on a quest and things happen on the way. It’s set in the Moscow metro after a nuclear war has made the suface uninhabitable. The books has two sequels but I haven’t read thoss

Hm you might enjoy Rebel mechanics, it’s not exactly fantasy altho there is some magic in there but it’s more about the “normal” people creating machines that run without magic and starting a revolution. The female mc is a governess spy too

    5. Sci fi is probably your best bet

Troy Rising series by John Ringo

Undying Mercenaries by B V Larson

If you’re open to zombie apocalypse
Black Tide Rising by John Ringo is a good one
