This sub is so fiction focused and while I love fiction I would also like to talk about nonfiction. Share any nonfiction books youve read lately or are currently reading!

I just finished Brainwash: A Secret History of Mind Control. Its a super interesting book that covers MKultra, cults, the cold war, the satanic panic, etc. The ultimate conclusion is that “brainwashing” is not a real thing but a rationalization and oversimplification of why people act in ways that we think are irrational. The guy who coined the term was actually a journalist on the CIA payroll. Its a super interesting book although sometimes difficult to read due to graphic descriptions of torture. Highly recommended.

    1. ‘The Great Post Office Scandal: The Fight to Expose a Multimillion Pound IT Disaster which Put Innocent People in Jail’ by Nick Wallis. I can’t recommend it enough! This book is amazing and has stirred more emotion in me than any fiction book I’ve read this year.

I highly recommend any of Patrick Radden Keefe’s books. My favorite is Empire of Pain: The Secret History of the Sackler Dynasty which covers the family behind OxyContin and the horrific plot of the American opioid epidemic.
