These are some classics I love: Little Women, The Great Gatsby, Frankenstein, and Dracula. Also Shakespeare’s tragedies and history plays.
These are some classics I was bored by/couldn’t get immersed in: The Picture of Dorian Gray (I know), Pride & Prejudice, Mansfield Park, Moby Dick
I look for books with dark themes, tragic endings, drama, etc. I also love to feel like I’m really getting to know the characters. I really wanted to like Moby Dick because it’s such an epic tale, but frankly I can’t remember a single thing about it other than the erotic whale fat processing scene.
I have the opportunity to take a course on War and Peace next semester- perhaps I would like that?
