So, I haven’t gotten ahold of a copy yet but I am still trying. I’ve never seen his name here yet. The title is Geometry for Ocelots and the author, Exurb1a, also has this mind-bending, falling into the void of insanity YT channel. It’s got a nice rating for just over 1k reviews. But he has the newest title I am interested in as the other 2022/2023 fantasy I’ve read so far is nay

    2. There’s an indie author reddit specifically for self-promo, and most of the books there are really new. You might try checking out r/Recommend_A_Book. Started cause of the self-promo regulations on most of these threads, which is likely why you see the same popular names over and over.

I’m thoroughly enjoying Kings of Paradise by Richard Nell right now. It’s a little darker, similar to the Song of Ice and Fire books but with its own distinctive vibe. Maybe check that out and if you enjoy it, there are 2 more novels and a short story to round out the series.

How new? Andy Weir has only been writing about 12 years and only has like 3 books I think but his stuff is excellent. More sci-fi than fantasy, but still good.

The /r/Fantasy subreddit (come join us over there for more fantasy recs btw) has a bingo reading challenge going on where one of the squares is “published in 2023”, with hard mode for it being a debut author.

Maybe have a look in the [recommendation thread here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Fantasy/comments/128ozc6/the_2023_rfantasy_bingo_recommendations_list/jejmp46/?context=3) to see if anything catches your eye?

Two of my own recent favorites recently are the Rook and Rose trilogy by M.A. Carrick and Silver Under Nightfall by Rin Chupeco. Both authors have been publishing for a few years, so not brand new, but still not exactly what you’d find on your average all time greatest list.
