Been trying to read more diverse genres (I tend to go for Classics) and thought about all those books I’ve always wanted to recommend but never found the right situation to.

Any kind of book is welcome, just write down your favorites or a novel you’ve been dying to tell someone about, no matter how famous or obscure it is.

Here’s a few of mine: “Sylvia” by Leonard Michaels, “I Must Betray You” by Ruta Sepetys, “A Little Princess” by Frances Burnett and “The Pumpkin Eater” by Penelope Mortimer

The Legends of the Condor Heroes by Jin Yong. They were written in the 50’s so maybe that counts as classics? It’s an epic martial arts story, kinda semi-fantasy, they are very funny and very exciting. It can take alittle while to get used to the fight scenes but I think maybe the translator of the furst book wasn’t too good at fight scenes, cuz they are much easier to understand for the rest of the series.

Do androids dream of electric sheep by Philip Dick

      Wild seed by Octavia Butler

Light from uncommon stars by Ryka Aoki

If this is a man- the truce by Primo Levi

    3. I Must Betray You is so good! A Little Princess is also fantastic. I hope these recommendations have the same vibes as those: beautiful descriptions, dark, and hopeful.

Longbourn by Jo Baker could be described as Pride and Prejudice meets Downton Abbey. It follows a serving girl in the Bennett’s household during the events of Pride and Prejudice.

The Marriage Portrait by Maggie O’Farrell about Lucretia de Medici and her young marriage and early death.

Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke is alternative historical fantasy about magicians during the Napoleonic Wars.

Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein is about female pilots during WWII; one of them is captured behind enemy lines and forced to write her confession. (This is young adult.)

Nothing to See Here by Kevin Wilson. I don’t know what this is. I listened to the audiobook and was hooked. A young woman becomes the nanny for a senator but his children burst into flames without any reason or warning.

If you’re open to very long books, [The Hands of the Emperor](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/af2bba9c-8f41-4a3e-b87a-8532a44ccb67) by Victoria Goddard! It’s a beautifully written slice of life book about the personal secretary to the emperor of the world, with a heavy focus on platonic relationships.

And if you’re open to middle grade fantasy, I really really love the [Nevermoor](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/6a6d5ca1-b2f5-47be-828c-018144d3bbc7) series by Jessica Townsend!
