I (27F) have been reading mostly non-fiction for the last decade (self-development, business, etc).
I really want to get back into fiction. But I find I get bored really easily, especially with long descriptions (à la Tolkien).
Could you guys recommend me a **book series** that feature characters around my age and are mostly made up of dialogue?
For context, I don’t like *heavy* sci-fi or fantasy. I just don’t find it supee relatable.
Some books I loved: 1984, Pride & Prejudice, Fahrenheit 451.
Genres I love: Survival stuff, mystery, office drama, murder, historical fiction and some post-apocalyptic stuff (like Fahrenheit / 1984).

*Sundial* by Shirley Jackson is one of my favorite books. It’s just wild. Family drama, mystery-ish, with her trademark psychological component.
Edit: also *Station Eleven*, Grady Hendrix for horror/thriller that’s also weirdly…fun?, Blake Crouch for super fast-paced near-future sci-fi, Amor Towels for historical, *Cloud Cuckoo Land* for a mix of all of it.
Green bone saga
Adjustment Day by Chuck Palahniuk- admittedly more description than dialog for sure, but i think it would def satisfy an Orwell fan’s thirst for social/political commentary in a fictitious setting
Artemis – Andy Weir
About a smuggler Jasmine/ Jazz on a moon base in the late 2080s. She gets involved in some kind of conspiracy on the base.
Easy read and I think it fits your request.
Personally I preferred Project Hail Mary – Andy Weir, but there’s some descriptive stuff going on there and might suit a male audience better.
Logan’s Run.
Persuasion or Sense and Sensitivity by Jane Austen.
