As a kid I would absolutely blow through books. I was going to the library (school one and the public library near my house) multiple times a week, and I was finishing 300+ page books within a couple hours. However, once I got about half-way through high school, I really dropped off and was only reading the books assigned in my English classes. Now I’m 25 and have only read like 2 books in the past 4 years (which were actually re-reads of books I liked in the past) mostly because I have no idea what I should read.
In middle school I was obsessed with the Warrior Cats books, and I’ve always enjoyed fantasy type books like Eragon. Obviously I also read the Hunger Games books and enjoyed those. In high school I started to branch out more, and found out I liked Gone With The Wind, even read the sequel. It was during my senior year that I read my two favorite books: The Road by Cormac McCarthy and The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy. I also liked Kite Runner by Khalid Hosseini.
Basically I like fantasy, historical stuff, realistic fiction, and books that really make you feel like you’re actually in the world of the characters.
I’m hoping y’all can give me some suggestions of what I can start back up with. I wouldn’t mind reading some non-fiction history and political science books either.
Also, here are some books I read that I just did not like for whatever reason:
The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway
As I Lay Dying by William Faulkner
Perfume: The Story of a Murderer by Patrick Süskind
