Any fellow spookhead will tell you that there are many Halloweens throughout the year in the northern hemisphere- there is of course the Halloween that comes on October 31st, but there is also the Halloween that hits at the end of summer around mid September when the first hints of autumnal weather start to shift into play and all of a sudden I tear the crop tops and booty shorts from my body and don the *coziest* hoodie I can find at the thrift, and start watching horror movies. This happens a solid two months before “real” Halloween.
Then there is also the springtime Halloween, when the weather goes from winter to “I’m going to pretend this is autumn” by lighting a candle that smells like falling leaves. That’s the predicament in which I find myself now. But I can’t watch horror movies, I have to “work” (😑) to “pay my bills” (🙄) so I need an audiobook instead.
Please suggest your favourite horror or thriller or generally spooky audiobooks! Generally I like books that lean more literary and less genre but I’ll take anything as long as the prose isn’t too shit.
Bonus points for a soundscape!
Thank you, and happy Halloween!
