For some reason, I fell out of love with reading and now find it hard to focus on books. I’m trying to now, but I wonder if it’s due to brainrot and the consistent overstimulation of social media, alongside my habit of preferring to write and roleplay. I am 21, F (nonbinary)
What I’m looking for:
I’m flexible. Horror, non-fiction, adult or y/a
✨ i LOVE fantasy, especially medieval or Victorian fantasy and zombie apocalypse, thriller, mystery
Here are some books I really loved:
Eragon (if you have any series to recommend for lovers of dragon specifically)
Warrior cats
Malice by John Gwynne (trying to read now)
Throne of Glass
The seven realms /
No longer human
Many Lee Child books
Inkspell
Welcome to nightvale (novels + transcripts)I love the weirdness)
(Webtoon) schoolbus graveyard (teens forced to survive in a dangerous other world everyday at midnight in their sleep)
(I know there’s more, but I read hundreds of books as a kid and they blend together now)
What are things I like in books?
I genuinely love decent world building and magic systems. I don’t mind the time period! I will also at least try to read everything, even if it’s out of my usual preference! Especially queer / minority stories.
**If the story grabs me and guts punches my emotions, I’m going to love it**
Books I’m trying to read now:
✨ House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski
Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries
✨Malice
Circe by Madeline Miller
Welcome to nightvale
Invader zim comic series
Bones (Jeff Smith)

I definitely recommend all of Sayaka Murata’s books! My fave was Earthlings, but Convenience Store Woman is probably better to start with if body horror or highly disturbing situations are upsetting to you.
Also, if you love horror, The Shining by Stephen King is a no-brainer.
If you’re open to middle grade fantasy, I highly recommend [Nevermoor](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/6a6d5ca1-b2f5-47be-828c-018144d3bbc7) by Jessica Townsend! The series doesn’t have much queer rep yet, but the author herself is queer! The audiobook is great too, in case you prefer that medium.
I really enjoyed the zombie themed book called The Girl With All The Gifts by Mike Carey. Got me out of a reading slump!
