I’m trying to incorporate some reading into my morning routine. I’d like to find something motivating, uplifting, spiritual (but not religious), or wholesome. I’ve been enjoying a lot stuff about upleveling mindset and self improvement, but I’d enjoy works of fiction or even poetry also. Thanks in advance!

A couple of years ago, I’d wake up everyday and crack open Meditations by Marcus Aurelius and read a random sentence/page. I’d always find something to think about for that morning.
Feel like I’m always recommending it but Project Hail Mary is one of the most uplifting books I’ve read in a long time. The main character is about as self motivated as you can get.
The Daily Stoic!
I really like Maybe You Should Talk to Someone which is a therapist writing about seeing her therapist. I thought it was very enlightening. And also Eleanor Oliphant to me is the best book ever. It’s somehow sad while also being very uplifting. A beautiful story.
I cannot stop recommending The Pocket Atlas of Remote Islands
The author put together an atlas of all of the most remote islands in the world. For each, there’s a 1-4 page story about a true event that happened on said island. These stories range from funny, to thought-provoking, to adventurous, to absolutely bizarre.
Each one leaves you with something to ponder and the entire thing really leaves an impression of how vast the world (and human history) is.
Nature Writing for Every Day of the Year

Stillness Speaks by Eckhart Tolle. Spiritual category.
Shorter “clips” for a daily dose unlike a larger book of his to read through.
