Sometimes, I read a book and I think, “wow, that was so weird and nonsensical, I loved it,” and other times I think “wow, that was so weird and nonsensical, I hated it.” I’ve been pondering why that might be.
Part of me thinks that I like weird books when I can still see some underlying logic behind them, or appreciate the purpose the weirdness serves. Or, sometimes I don’t really “get” the weirdness, but it’s so interestingly crafted that I like it anyway. I don’t like weird books when it feels like they’re weird just for the sake of being weird. But the line is thin sometimes!

This may be due to the way the book is expressed, but I think your preferences are more influential.
