I don’t know what grade I am teaching yet so anything from K-6th will work. What was your favorite book or series at that age, or what is your kids favorite now?
The Warrior Cat series and the Hank the Cowdog series are really popular with kids- maybe a few of those couldn’t hurt.

Nevermoor by Jessica Townsend
Gregor the Overlander by Suzanne Collins
A Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking
by T. Kingfisher
Notes from the Dog by Gary Paulsen
Simon Sort of Says by Erin Bow (I LOVED THIS BOOK but it’s about a 12 year old who survived a school shooting. It’s a middle grade book, but beware of CW)

I’d wait until you find out what grade to get the majority of your books.
That being said- kids K-5 seem to really love informational tests with great photos: DK Eyewitness and Nat Geo make a large variety.
