I love the storytelling device in WWZ. First person interviews about different aspects of an event/time in history, and what it was like to live through them from the perspectives of the people who were there. Obviously it’s entirely fictional, but what are some nonfiction books that use this method of storytelling, with interviews of real people?

    1. “Zinky boys” by Svetlana Alexievich is a collection of stories of people (civilians, soldiers and support personnel) who got sent or volunteered to go to Afghanistan during the Soviet invasion. Matches quite well to the tone of World War Z – some are despondent, others are stubborn in that they were right to do what they did.
