Hello,
I’m looking for monster books that are not too deep, sunspenseful and full of actions. I want to stay up late and not be able to put down the book because I need to know what happens next without thinking too hard.
Here are some of my favorite and not so favorite book:
Books I love
1. Jurassic Park – Michael Crichton (counting dinosaurs as monster and just because I love this book so much)
2. Devolution – Max Brooks (really suspenseful and I love the characters)
3. Kaiju Preservation Society – John Scalzi (hilarious book, love the way they portray kaijus to be as clueless as pandas)
4. Great Zoo of China – Matthew Reilly (my popcorn read, so fun and light)
5. Relic – Douglas Preston (couldn’t put this down because I needed to know what the monster and the different people will do next)
Also, while they are not monster book, I love books by T. Kingfisher (The House with Good Bones, The Twisted Ones, Hollow Places, What Moves the Dead).
Book I like but not love
1. Watchers – Dean Koontz (loved the first part, but the second part is too slow for me)
Books I dislike
1. Ancestor – Scott Sigler (advertised as a monster book but >!the monsters are nonexsistent in like 3/4 of the book and then only appear at the end. Most of the drama only came from the people!<)
2. Hunter – James Byron Huggins (hate the self insert main character. >!What do you mean you are an anti-social wilderness and tracking expert with a pet wolf but somehow is able to fix military equipments better than military experts and also keep up with the latest scientific knowledge?!<)
Can you guys give me any recommendation?
Thank you!
