So I’m pretty new to the horror genre and just haven’t found a book that gives me the spooks like a movie or artwork does.
I’ve read ‘This Thing Between Us’ by Gus Moreno which wasn’t scary and more of a study on grief and only had one short chase scene that had me a little tense.
I’ve also read ‘Tender is the Flesh’ by Agustina Bazterrica which I really liked bc it was just so disgusting but still not quite what I’m looking for.
I tried to read ‘This House on Needless Street’ by Catrina Ward but it started too slowly I think and I petered out before anything scary happened.
Should I give Stephen King a go? What would you recommend I start with? Some horror movies I really love are: Talk to Me, Barbarian, Midsommar, Hereditary, and The Babadook. I guess I’m also looking for something that just overwhelms you with dread like Barbarian does >!with the discovery of the tunnels and the old guy and his crimes !< That sinking feeling when you stumble across something very wrong.
