This is kind of a weird request, but lately I’ve been having a recurring dream where I’m reading a book (but I’m not reading in the dream, I’m watching it play out.) and now I’d kind of like to see if there’s actually a real book that’s similar. Basically, in my dream, there’s a family and some family friends who are in a cabin in a remote location, kind of out in the middle of a field somewhere. There’s some unspecified disaster/apocalyptic type of situation going on in the outside world that happened while they were away on their trip, and now they’re stuck in the middle of nowhere because of it — but there’s underlying tension between the group, as well, people keeping secrets and distrusting each other, that kind of thing. It’s not really a horror so much as just very suspenseful. I think what I like about it so much is that the danger outside isn’t the main focus, it’s sort of just an eerie backdrop to the danger within the group. Again, sorry this is so weird and specific, I just have a craving for an actual book like this now.
