Caught a close friend of 10 years red handed today in completely making up crap about my SO and I, and simultaneously lying to us about the people they were lying to about us! And, apparently this had been happening the whole time. We only found out through finally triangulating with the other people involved.
Feels like a twilight zone episode. Also, this isn’t the first time I’ve been seriously betrayed by someone I had gotten really close to – and was family or friend, not even a romantic relationship. Faith in humanity is a little shaken.
Any book suggestions to make sense of this ongoing experience in life? Really making me wonder what percentage of the population regularly does stuff like this, and makes me wonder whether humanity is worth trying to save in the first place.
I marked non fiction but I’m also open to fiction
Thank you for any literary pointers!
