Short books to read in between reading books in a big series.

I’m currently tackling Wheel of Time (on Shadow Rising currently) and I absolutely love it.

However, I want to add just a bit of variety to my arsenal without having to manage two lengthy books at a time / back to back.

Any suggestions for pretty easy reads in between reading books of WoT? I like pretty much every genre but would love to get more into historical fiction. Thanks!
