I feel like most great books I’ve read this far either have a fantastic plot but boring characters or great characters but garbage plot. That’s why one of my favorite books is Six of Crows – the plot hooked me but so did the characters (and maybe the plot was only great because of them). I want a story that is moved BY the characters, not the other way around. Also, even though I love a well-written villain, I need at least a couple of the characters to be likeable. And I want their friendships to be fun to read, you know? I live for fun and chaotic dynamics. I’m okay with romance as long as the book is not romance-centered. Preferably with a (mostly) happy ending.
