Specific subject matter isn’t as important, though I like it when the mystery is slowly revealed in bits and pieces 🙂 the big thing for me is that the characters are actually interesting, and talk like real people, curses & all. I’ve read books where they talk like 50’s soap opera characters, or the author tries too hard & they are all walking stereotypes, ugh 😣
Books that I’ve really liked include:
The Anomaly by Michael Rugter
Earthcore by Scott Sigler
Do Not Disturb by Freida McFadden
Numb by Jeff Menapace
Angels & Demons by Dan Brown
Deception Point by Dan Brown
Penpal by Dathan Auerbach

the good daughter by karin slaughter. the events of one night are revealed slowly. every time the author goes back to the event we learn something new and it all comes to a head. the characters are incredible. the relationship between the 2 sisters is heart wrenching. false witness and pretty girls also explore sister-sister relationship with the mystery revealed in pieces. I bawled at the end of false witness. all the relationships are super unique with very interesting and varied family dynamics. highly recommend.
