I’m not the biggest fan of romance books, but gave The Love Hypothesis and Love, Theoretically by Ali Hazlewood a try, mostly because of the science-y names lol.
But both of them had such similar main characters and the characters were written badly. (In my opinion, at least.)
Both of those cringed me out so bad I didn’t feel like reading at all for a while.

The housemaid and the housemaids secret. Utter trash
I pulled a handful of books from the goodreads top picks over the years and they were more often than not total flops. House in the cerulean sea, midnight library, upgrade, sea of tranquility.
Normal people was underwhelming, after all the praise it got maybe I was expecting too much.
A little life. It was quite the time investment to finish too – and when I did I felt like I’d wasted my time
“The seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo” and “Verity”. Both super hyped up but I found them poorly written and overall really disappointing. Both also really infuriating as they could have been good stories in the hands of other authors but there were just so many things that didn’t make sense.
A little life 😬
I know everyone loves it, but idk…
I was so dissappointed after i finished it.
Honestly, most published romance books I’ve read bore me to death. Just can’t get into it unless something else is going on in-story.
A Little Life. It’s shit on a lot now, but it was pretty much universally praised when it released.
