Hey guys, I’m looking for a book (set in modern day) bout someone with a super power/ability, but rather than it being action based or superhero/villan based, its more covers drama themes and the struggles that come with being different.
I’d prefer it if the protagonist is the only one with abilities, or only one with that unique ability/strength if possible.
I sort of want to cover that outsider theme, as well as have other people be sort of scared almost when they find out about this ability.
This could be anything from mindreading/telekenisis, to like being able to fly/ super strength/ laser eyes/ etc etc. Anything goes really.
A good movie example of this would be something like “Superbob”, “Butterfly Effect”, “Powder”, or even Megamind.
Tv shows with similar characters would be someone like Sam Winchester from Supernatural, Mob from Mob Psycho 100, Shawn Spencer from Psych (even tho he isnt actually a psychic), even Clark Kent himself in Smallville.
Early days superman is actually a great example of what im looking for. I almost want just that without it developing into an action.
Oh also, i’d prefer more adult writing though YA is also acceptable. I’d also like the character to be on the older end of teenager to the younger-middle end of aduit if possible.
