My 80 yo mom reads nonstop
And I am responsible for finding her books. It needs to be something from the past 5 years. It can’t be too convoluted because her cognition isn’t what it used to be. John Grisham and Lincoln Lawyer are what she has liked in the past but not Patterson (she says his books are terribly written). Thanks in advance

Does it really have to be so new? Brad Meltzer’s early books are like Grisham on speed.
The Thursday murder club series might interest her. It has police in it as well as elderly people who solve murders.
The ruth Galloway series has some police procedural abandoned forensic archeology aspects.
The Armand Gamache series is about the (fictional) head of the QC provincial police force.
