I will admit this was spurred by another post about maps and directions. Anyway, as a writer I have always been snagged on whether or not a fantasy setting should have made up names for the days of the week, or just use Monday through Sunday. The same for the names of months. Do readers even care?? I always over think it to the point of avoiding saying what day it is and only refer to yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
On one hand readers are familiar with the structure of a week/year. They know Wednesday comes before Thursday, or June before July. But it feels the same as naming a country capital Washington DC, which would be dumb.
Thoughts?

Look at other fictional works and see what they do, it’s just world building I suppose
I think I have seen a full “Fantasy calendar” in D&D (but it’s been ages since I last played) and it’s also not uncommon in fiction to have original names for these things. Here’s one for Tolkien’s works: [https://lotr.fandom.com/wiki/Calendar](https://lotr.fandom.com/wiki/Calendar)
Translation convention?
Or make some up.
Are you on earth? Months are approximately naturally occurring whereas weeks are arbitrary.
