So I picked this up because I was scrolling through TikTok and came across top Dark Academia books. Me being a Slytherin and a true crime junkie and all. I gave it a shot from the local bookstore
So it took me 3 long nights and sativa to finish. For this being her debut novel is brilliance. I like classics so the Shakespeare language was beautiful.
I pictured this as a Netflix show in my head and it’s funny the people from sex Education are making a show with this.
I felt like the hook from the beginning was so good and how we are introduced to who the players were and how you knew it wasn’t Oliver even if it’s unreliable narrator that would be so evident.
Richard was such an evil character out of nowhere. But once I saw they were doing Caesar as the play I was like okay Yall I know where this is going.
The sex scene with Oliver and Meredith was so hot i was like damn this is spicy too. I felt the issue with James is that they gave us one Mere kiss?? Like they were rooomates! You could have gave us call me by your name.
Also the killer reveal was getting evident by the end. I was binging this book. My suspects were flippa, James and Meredith.
The ambiguous ending low key irked me after doing researching and realizing this is a stand-alone story after just reading Blood mereidian.
But I’m choosing to believe he is Alive based on him telling him in jail he’s going to Del norte, the Subcontext of the poem, and I’m a hopeless romantic.
I am excited for her next novel!
