The MC can be aromantic or just enjoy their solitude but their story ends up with them being not romantically involved with or attracted to anyone, nor with them looking for romance, and they’re perfectly fine with it. Best if they have close friends and/or family.
To give you an example, I’m imaging the cinematic ending to an epic saga where the MC kicks back and relaxes on their porch with their dog looking at the sunset over the mountain or whatever lol.
Can be any genre, stand-alone or series, whatever gender. No YA. No queerphobia/sexism/racism/ableism. Thank you!

“October in the Earth” by Olivia Hawker. I just recently finished the audiobook and thoroughly enjoyed it. Unique storyline and somewhat “historical fiction” set in the American Great Depression time.
Fuzzy Nation by John Scalzi.
Dude is mining gems on another planet with his dog. Trouble happens. He does have an ex girlfriend, but everyone just behaves like mature adults. Avoids the trope of “he gets the girl.” It’s just people solving a problem. With a dog.
that’s exactly the end of the first skulduggery pleasant series, but i can’t speak to its follow ups!
