I read mainly adult horror but sometimes like to take a break from it with some lighter middle grade fiction. My favorite middle grade author is Eva Ibbotson whose work is mostly cheeky fantasy about kids making friends with characters like anxiety-ridden ghosts or eccentric witches or mermaids. I also enjoy Brian Jacques’ Redwall series. I’m open to middle grade horror too.

I loved Eva Ibbotson and Redwall too 🙂
I recommend [Nevermoor](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/6a6d5ca1-b2f5-47be-828c-018144d3bbc7) by Jessica Townsend! It’s my favorite series, so I recommend it very highly!
Also, [Sal and Gabi Break the Universe](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/e2983156-c0df-4398-9a26-773e9f49b369) by Carlos Hernandez!
The Animorphs series by K. A. Applegate
The Jedi Apprentice/Jedi Quest/Last of the Jedi series by Jude Watson
The Peasprout Chen series by Henry Lien
For middle grade horror KR Alexander is a lot of fun. Sci-fi has the Animorphs series and an author named Bruce Coville, who’s written a number of series. If you like mystery, my favorites are the Sammy Keyes series by Wendelin van Draanen and the Brixton Brothers series by Max Barnett.
