I’ve just finished the Wool series and Project Hail Mary. I’m in the mood for something set in a hypothetical future after a big war; it doesn’t necessarily need to be WW3. I would like it to have some big futuristic elements though, so preferably nothing in the near future. I’m thinking more like genentic engineering, territorial battles on a terraformed Moon/Mars, something like that. I didn’t enjoy the Dune series too much so I’d rather steer clear of a political story told from the perspective of the Elites or those in power. Moreso a story of daily life amidst that type of world, or some sort of nontraditional storytelling like in Sicario, or a dark comedy told from the perspective of some random shlub trying to survive.
