What is a moment in a book that, when you read it, you had to take a break to realize what just happened and fully grasp it? I have plenty of examples, but the one that prompted this question was a chapter in “The Count of Monte Cristo” I won’t explain it for fear of spoiling it for anyone, but it was a very big betrayal by the main character towards a child of a family he’s acquainted with.
