The title says it all. It seems divisive. A lot of people seem to hate it for romanticize abuse and SA (which I totally understand). But on the other, there are a lot of people who enjoy it because it’s toxic and just fun (and there’s nothing wrong with that). I also heard its also liberating for some people?
But right now, I seem to be in the middle of the spectrum. I don’t like to read dark romance and I have no interest in reading any books. But I don’t mind people reading them. It’s just that I really can’t handle seeing abuse being shown in a romantic way (if I’m wrong, please enlighten me).
So what are your thoughts regarding this genre? Do you hate this subgenre? If so, le why? Do you like it? If so, why?
