Obviously any plot requires some conflict. I find that reading Moll Flanders, or books like that just cause me to relive pain through the protagonist. I have had enough terrible things happen to me and I don’t need to feel that again.
Do you have recommendations of books where conflict occurs but it is not egregiously painful?
I work in medicine, love the outdoors, and am often found quilting, cooking, or painting. I loved the books Ishmael, Station 11, and Pope Joan.
Also, to be clear, I have had a lot of wonderful things too. I am very grateful for this life.
