I just read I have lived a Thousand Years by Lucia Bitton-Jackson. I would like recommendations on other non-fiction first hand accounts from WW II survivors or more specifically from those soldiers who liberated the camps and/or from German citizens during the war who then found out the extent of the Nazi’s actions against their fellow men and women.

Man’s search for meaning by Frankl. Very famous. It’s an account by an Auschwitz inmate who survived, Dr. Frankl who analyzes the psychology of the inmates, and what kept them alive. So not a liberator, and you won’t find a very extended description of what was happening in the camps, but rather a psychological perspective, what he was thinking, how he was dealing with the humiliation etc.

If you like the topic there is an incredible interview series on YouTube, look for USC Shoah Foundation channel. I listened to all of them. They have long interviews of both survivors and liberators. Sometimes it’s hard to listen
