I am the only queer person (25F) in my book club. Everyone else in my book club is a straight woman in their 40s and 50s. I get to pick the book for June (ha ha ha lines up perfectly). I want to pick the most gut wrenching queer novel possible that talks about the struggles of being queer as part of the story. I want it to be fiction. Other than that, I am open to suggestions.
TLDR: suggest me a novel about being queer that will rip my heart out.

2. “Giovanni’s Room” by James Baldwin is a heart-wrenching tale of love, self-discovery, and the struggle to come to terms with one’s sexuality in a society that condemns it. A Place Called Home: A Memoir by David Ambroz
It’s primarily about the foster care system, but the writer experienced many additional hardships due to being a gay man that are also focused on quite a bit. The book is very well written, *extremely* heart wrenching, and won tons of awards.
Bonus: David Ambroz is about the same age as the other members of your club are.
