Hi, I’m an older sibling to a 7 year old girl. Me and my grandmother are trying to encourage her to read more, but even though she loved reading when she was learning to do it, she doesn’t seem interested in the books we’ve tried. We’re a little short on ideas – when I was her age I was already on young adult books, and my grandmother is trying to get her into stuff like Enid Blyton and not understanding the more outdated language puts my sister off.
I’m looking for recommendations for that sort of age group, maybe something you enjoyed at that age or something your own children liked. She’s a pretty well-rounded kid and likes a lot of stereotypical boy things as well as girl things so any type of story would be good to try. Thank you for the help!

When I was in Elementary school I loved Babysitters Club, Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, RL Stine and Christopher Pike books. My kids, however, are into a whole different sort. They absolutely love Dog Man and Cat Kid Comic Club and Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Also, the I Survived series got their attention. I think you have to find books that pull from their interests.
Animorphs!
Has she tried the Warriors cats books? I was obsessed as a kid!
