I am looking for a fantasy book geared towards an adult male. I’m looking for a series with non subtle magic at the center. im interested in books where multiple characters are wielding powers through either training at some sort of magic school or maybe through some connection with a magic creature such as a dragon. I’ve read suggestion like dragon riders of pern but from what I can tell the “powers” in those books are dragons breathing fire and telepathic communication between dragon and rider and while that is cool and i guess does fall under powers it’s not exactly what I’m looking for. if you have read eragon or the inheritance series that is a great outline. While connecting with a dragon makes it easier to such magic everyone can still wield it from throwing fire to healing wounds to siphoning energy. This is the kind of powers I’m interested in. I just got down reading fourth wing by Rebbeca Yarros and while I enjoyed the setting,how the riders were weeded out like the parapet and how powers were used (signets granting users powers like shadow wielding or lighting) the extremely detailed sex chapters were unbearable and unnecessary so I’d rather avoid things that delve to far into stuff like that.I saw a suggestion for a book series called temeraire and from the research I did it seems like the dragons have differnt breaths like acid frost first so maybe it will be up my alley but it’s just hard to say. so any suggestionss would be greatly appreciated.
