Alright everyone. In my local bookstore and library, the romance sections are the biggest/busiest.
I’ve never been tempted before now. The “Fifty Shades of Grey” phenomenon passed me by.
I’m happy to jump in now and to expand my horizons a little bit.
Well-written, good characterisations, intriguing plots all a bonus but hit my with your favourite reads from this century?

So I think the bigger thing here is what are you looking for in a romance book beyond being well-written, good characterisations and intriguing plots.
Romance is the umbrella that a lot of different books sit under.
Do you want something more light hearted and rom-comesque?
Something a little smutty? And if smutty, do you have any particular tropes or kinks you want to see played out?
Fantasy or contemporary?
Romance is an amazing genre and there’s something for everyone to make their little hearts pitter patter.
Try Nora Roberts Chesapeake Bay Saga and The Sign of Seven Trilogy. Both these series are centered around male characters, although they aren’t exactly MODERN any more, having been written in 1998 and 2007 respectively.

Just here to post my biweekly recommendation for Fingersmith by Sarah Waters.
