    **Spoilers for Rebecca, I guess….**

I just finished listening to Rebecca and I’m sorry to say I found it very boring and couldn’t wait to get it finished. The one bit that did perk my interest was when Max reveals what happened and basically implies she was a shameless hussy who tricked him into marrying her and bankrolling her debauched lifestyle. I also found the idea that she might have manipulated him into killing her pretty good too.

Long story short, I finished it thinking I’d love to read a really good telling of those events from Rebecca’s POV. I’ve read a few books that were based on classics, like Havisham (Great Expectations), and Becky (Vanity Fair), neither of which were very good. I see the 1984 retelling that’s out at the moment is getting good reviews too.

So yeah, I’m wondering what are people’s thoughts on these kind of books? There’s obviously a massive trend of retelling Greek myths to centre the women, which is fine if you’re into it. But there’s probably a whole world of classics that could be revisited and retold from an interesting point of view, not just jumping on a trend.

Anyone have any classics they’d like to see revisited from another character’s POV, or just from a modern angle?
