I recently listened to the audiobook recording of Mistwick School of Musicraft by Jessica Khoury. I was shocked at how much I loved it!
I often find myself enjoying these books that are aimed towards younger readers, but still maintain some maturity (think Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, etc.) They’re just engaging enough to keep my focus, but not so intense that it keeps me awake when I’m trying to wind down.

I loved the Tiffany Aching books by Terry Pratchett- start with the Wee Free Men.
I really surprisingly enjoyed Fourth Wing. A fun YA fantasy about a dragon riding school. Second book comes out next month.
Sabriel by Garth Nix. It’s an easy read about a young girl who becomes very powerful at a younger age when her father mysteriously disappears. She has to travel through some adventures to find out what happened to him. It is one of my favorite books. The audiobook is also good. (read by Tim Curry)
Ender’s Saga
First in the series: ‘Ender’s Game’ by Orson Scott Card.
There’s a good chance you’ve already read this, but if not it’s a MUST read and fits your request very well.
